About Maybach

Maybach began as an engine manufacturer in 1909, with Wilhelm and Karl Maybach developing engines for airships. The company later expanded into passenger cars, presenting the W3 at the Berlin motor show in 1921.12

The original car business produced luxury vehicles through 1940. Daimler-Benz acquired the company in 1960 and revived Maybach as a standalone car brand in 2002 with the 57 and 62. Deliveries of that range ended in early 2013.12

The name returned as Mercedes-Maybach, with S-Class deliveries beginning in 2015. The range subsequently expanded beyond sedans, including the SL roadster unveiled in 2024.23
