Pelican provides a powerful set of actions that can be coordinated remotely. This allows you to build custom workflows in Shortcuts that can read vehicle state, start navigation, and automate decisions related to your car. Some examples:
- Navigate to a place. A shortcut passes a destination to Pelican and starts navigation.
- Act on a low tire-pressure reading. A shortcut checks the last stored pressure and shows a notification if it’s below a limit you choose.
Connected Account
Connected Accounts let Pelican automate reading your car’s data and sending commands over the internet. Your car must support the respective action. For example:
- Warm the car before you leave. On a cold morning, a shortcut turns on climatization.
- Charging reminders. Send an alert if your car isn’t charging overnight.
Signals
Signals are values Pelican records about your car, such as tire pressure, battery level, or whether the car is charging. Pelican gets these values from an OBD scanner or a Connected Account. Each reading includes the time it was measured.
Use Get Latest Signals to check the most recent readings, or Get Signal History to see how a value changed over time. For example, a shortcut can check the last tire-pressure reading before deciding whether to send you a notification.
Get Latest Signals can refresh an old reading through a Connected Account. To check whether a stored reading is recent enough for your task, use its measurement time.
Live parameters
Live parameters require an active connection to an OBD scanner. Pelican will read live parameters from the car when the action runs.
